In early 1948 heavy rains combined with a quick thaw wreaked havoc in the downtown core of Brampton. Lee Sing's laundry in the earlier picture was crushed by excessive rains and approximately 2,000 pounds of ice storming through the front door; and while Lee Sing (and coincidentally all the laundry) escaped with the help of the local 48th Higlanders, the laundry business was forced to relocate.

The same corner in the late 1980's seems ironically to be the site of an insurance agent, and if one looks closely they may note the reasonably priced gasoline at $.409 per gallon..... the equivalent of just over 9 cents per litre.
