1925 Some 60 years after the event it is only possible to speculate as to the
reasons why someone went out and stood in the middle Queen Street in Brampton, after a light snowfall, and took a picture of the street looking
east towards the "Four Corners". Likely the picture was taken by a photographer from the "Conservator", the local weekly newspaper of the time.
The offices of the paper were in the right hand corner of the picture. The picture was probably taken to record the completion of new red brick
pavement on the downtown streets.
1987 That brick pavement was subsequently paved over with black asphalt. The
planting of trees was a fairly recent event. It adds considerable grace to the appearance of the area, but hides a number of the buildings, and
makes it hard to compare the changes that have occurred over the years. Some of the buildings are the same ones, perhaps with re-facing. Others
have been replaced by new structures.
